I have never considered myself someone who is intensely devoted to reading books. Nonetheless, I have come to appreciate the impact of the small number of books I have read and studied. At some point in my life, I decided to try therapy. There was something common to therapists I encountered. They all recommended a book. I would always think within me, "I don't need a book, I don't like reading, just talk to me". I was wrong. I have come to realize that books were all part of the therapy. Indeed, I saw remarkable improvement thereafter.
Books have a way of enlightening the mind. I am immediately captivated by the ability of a book to transform our minds. The pattern of our thoughts gets a chance to be reprogrammed. In addition to this, the transformation of one's mind tends to alter our decisions and actions. The knowledge gained equips us to make informed decisions. We become conscious of the why and know-how of our actions.
The mind has a constrained view unless enlightened. It makes its assumptions based on what it has been exposed to. The limitation of the mind is a result of the limitation of its exposure. I seem to be putting emphasis on the mind. Our mind is our powerhouse. Not all battles won are solely based on physical strength, but more so the ability to harness one's mind to win.
I have heard the stories of people whose lives have been tremendously transformed by reading /studying and applying what is read/studied. Think of any great person you know or wish to emulate. I assure you this is one of their secrets.
Yes!...Books.
I am mostly going to give excerpts from what Iearn't. I aim to share inspiring, educating transforming lessons from inspiring books and authors. I hope to encourage everyone through the various articles posted.
Never looking as though we have attained it. Each day is a step closer to where we want to be.
